East Grinstead Map Poster & Print
East Grinstead sits on a ridge in West Sussex, near the borders with Surrey and Kent. Its historic core is the High Street, lined with timber-framed buildings, some dating to the fourteenth century. Nearby stands Sackville College, a Jacobean almshouse. From above, the old town is a narrow strip along the ridge, with twentieth-century housing spreading out on the slopes around it.
The town is known for the Queen Victoria Hospital, where surgeon Archibald McIndoe treated badly burned airmen during the Second World War. His patients formed the Guinea Pig Club, and the town's support for them is remembered locally. South of the town, the land opens towards Ashdown Forest and the Weir Wood Reservoir.
An East Grinstead map poster shows a clear contrast between the ridge-top old town and the looser residential streets below. Railway lines, including the heritage Bluebell Railway that terminates here, add distinct curves, while the reservoir and woodland give the southern edge a calm, open quality.

Bluebell Railway terminus
The heritage Bluebell Railway ends in East Grinstead, its line running south through the countryside and adding a gentle curve to the map.
Weir Wood Reservoir
South of the town, the reservoir forms a long, irregular water body surrounded by trees, an open space that balances the denser streets to the north.
