Einbeck Map Poster & Print
Einbeck lies in southern Lower Saxony, between the Solling hills and the Leine valley, on the small Ilme river. Its old town is among the best-preserved in northern Germany, with many half-timbered houses lining streets that lead out from the market square. The medieval street pattern is still intact and clearly legible from above.
Einbeck was a member of the Hanseatic League and grew wealthy on its beer, which was exported across northern Europe. The strong beer brewed here gave rise to the name Bock, a corruption of the town's name as pronounced in Munich. Brewing continues today, and the town remains closely associated with the style.
An Einbeck map poster shows the compact old town, with remnants of its fortifications and the roads that follow their course, surrounded by later neighbourhoods and the green corridor of the Ilme. The dense lanes of the centre contrast with the open farmland beyond, creating a classic, balanced composition that suits the traditional character of the place.

Old fortification line
Remnants of the medieval defences and the roads that follow their course help outline the historic centre, a clear boundary between old lanes and later districts.
Ilme valley
The small Ilme river and its green floodplain pass the town, a soft natural line that balances the tight streets of the centre.
