Ferndale Map Poster & Print
Ferndale is a small, densely built city in Oakland County, just north of Detroit. Its edges are easy to read on a map: Eight Mile Road runs along the south, Interstate 696 crosses the north, and Woodward Avenue cuts through the middle on a slight diagonal. Between them, residential streets form a close, regular grid of narrow lots and short blocks.
Downtown sits where Nine Mile Road meets Woodward, a compact strip of shops, restaurants and bars that draws people from across metro Detroit. The city has a reputation as one of Michigan's most welcoming communities for LGBTQ residents, and Woodward itself is the route of the annual Woodward Dream Cruise, when classic cars fill the avenue.
A Ferndale map poster shows the Detroit mile-road system in close-up. The grid is fine and even, broken only by the angle of Woodward and the curve of the freeway. With few parks and no rivers, the print is almost pure street pattern, which suits the clean graphic look of a black-and-white design.
