Guaporé Map Poster & Print
Guaporé lies in the northeast of Rio Grande do Sul, in the hilly country settled by Italian immigrants from the late nineteenth century. From above, the town's centre sits on relatively level ground in a valley, with a regular grid of blocks around the main church and square. Toward the edges, the streets begin to curve and climb with the hills.
The surrounding landscape is folded into ridges and valleys, and small rivers and streams run between them. Rural roads follow the ridgelines between family farms, a pattern inherited from the colonial settlement lots. On the map, fields, woodland and patches of vineyard and crops form an uneven mosaic.
A Guaporé map poster brings out the contrast between the town's ordered centre and the organic hill roads around it. Like many Serra Gaúcha towns, Guaporé built a strong small-industry base on its settler heritage, and its compact urban area shows that quiet, steady growth.

Hillside streets
Away from the centre, streets curve and bend to follow the slopes, loosening the grid into flowing lines.
Colonial farm roads
Rural roads run along ridges between family farms, following the old settlement lots. They spread across the surrounding hills.
