Hassi Messaoud Map Poster & Print
Hassi Messaoud lies in the northern Algerian Sahara, in Ouargla Province, far from the coastal cities. The town grew after the discovery in 1956 of the Hassi Messaoud oil field, the largest in Algeria, and it remains the centre of the national oil industry. From above, it appears as a planned grid of streets set in open desert, with little around it but sand and gravel plains.
The map is a study in contrast. Residential districts, industrial compounds, an airport and wide access roads form clear geometric shapes, while straight roads and service tracks run off toward oil installations scattered across the surrounding plain. Beyond the town, the desert surface is almost blank, which makes the built area stand out with unusual sharpness.
A Hassi Messaoud map poster uses that emptiness as part of the design. The grid, the runways and the long straight roads sit in a wide open field, giving the composition an almost architectural calm. It is a distinctive piece for oil workers, engineers and families who have spent time in this remote Saharan town.

Airport runways
The long, straight runways of the airport form bold lines near the town, one of the most graphic and immediately recognisable elements in the composition.
Desert access roads
Straight roads and tracks lead from town toward the oil installations, stretching across the blank plain like lines ruled on paper.

Zakaj Hassi Messaoud
Zemljevid, ki nekaj pomeni
Hassi Messaoud is a place many people know through work rotations rather than childhood, and a map is a fitting keepsake of those years. Its crisp geometry and empty surroundings look striking in a modern interior, an office or a home far from the Sahara.
Personalise the title and subtitle with a company name, a project or the years you spent there, and adjust the coordinates line. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, with Sand echoing the desert setting, and order a matte print or download the $9 files.
