Hounslow Heath
A broad open space in the south-west of the town, the heath is where General Roy measured his 1784 baseline for the national survey. On the poster it reads as a quiet gap among the streets.

Hounslow Map Poster & Print
Hounslow grew as a staging post on the roads leading west out of London, and the map still shows it. The High Street follows the old Bath Road, the Great West Road cuts a straighter line to the north, and the Piccadilly line links the town through stations that carry its name. Around these lines, Victorian and interwar terraces fill the blocks in tight, regular rows.
To the south-west lies Hounslow Heath, what remains of the open land once feared for its highwaymen. In 1784 General William Roy measured a baseline across the heath, and it became the starting point for the triangulation of Great Britain, the survey from which the Ordnance Survey grew. Few places have such a direct link to the history of map-making.
Further west the geometry changes abruptly. Heathrow's parallel runways and terminal loops appear as long, clean shapes against the suburban grain, while the River Crane and the Duke of Northumberland's River wind through strips of parkland between the houses. A Hounslow map poster captures that contrast between fine residential texture, broad transport lines and the green corridors that break them up.

Great West Road
Built in the 1920s as a bypass, this wide arterial road runs straight across the north of the town, a sharp line against the older, gently curving High Street.
Heathrow's edge
The airport's runways and taxiways lie just beyond the western edge of the town, their long straight forms among the most recognisable shapes on any map of west London.

Zakaj Hounslow
Zemljevid, ki nekaj pomeni
Hounslow is where many Londoners have found a first home, run a family business or started a long daily commute, while plenty of travellers know it only from the flight path. A map shows the streets as they really are, a personal record of a place that is easy to overlook.
Set the title to the town, a street or a family name, write a date in the subtitle and edit the coordinates line. Choose from five styles, including Blueprint and Noir, then download the $9 HD files or order a printed poster.
