Terraced core
The older streets are set in tight parallel rows, typical of mining towns. They form the darkest, most closely drawn part of the map.

Hoyland Nether Map Poster & Print
Hoyland Nether sits south of Barnsley in South Yorkshire, on rising ground above the valleys that once fed the region's coal industry. The map shows a mix of old and new: short rows of terraced streets around the older centre, cul-de-sacs and estates built later, and green land left where pits and spoil heaps once stood.
The M1 motorway runs close by and links the town with Sheffield to the south and Leeds to the north. It has become a significant influence on how the area has changed, bringing business parks and new housing to land once shaped by mining. Fields and woodland still separate Hoyland from neighbouring villages.
A Hoyland Nether map poster captures a working landscape in transition. The motorway sweeps past as a bold curve, the terraced core forms a dense cluster, and the surrounding hillsides open into calm white space.

M1 corridor
The motorway passes nearby as a strong, smooth curve. It contrasts with the smaller, irregular street pattern of the town.
Reclaimed green land
Former colliery sites and farmland around the town show up as open space. They trace the gaps between Hoyland and nearby settlements.
