Iowa City Map Poster & Print
Iowa City lies in eastern Iowa on the Iowa River, which runs north to south through the heart of the city. The University of Iowa straddles the river, with campus buildings and green spaces on both banks, and on the map the water becomes a clear dividing line between the downtown grid on the east and the west-side campus and hospital district.
The city served as the first capital of the State of Iowa, and the Old Capitol, with its golden dome, still stands at the centre of the Pentacrest, the university's main quadrangle. Iowa City is also known for the Iowa Writers' Workshop, and in 2008 it was named a UNESCO City of Literature. The downtown pedestrian mall lies a short walk away.
An Iowa City map poster captures a town shaped by learning. The straight downtown streets, the curving riverbanks, the bridges and the open lawns of the campus all read cleanly in black and white. It makes a meaningful gift for graduates, faculty, writers and anyone who spent formative years along the Iowa River.

The Pentacrest
The five-building quad around the Old Capitol sits on a rise above the river's east bank, forming a distinct open rectangle right beside downtown.
Downtown grid
East of the river, a regular grid of blocks holds the commercial centre and the pedestrian mall, giving the map a crisp, orderly structure.
