Jackson Map Poster & Print
Jackson grew up where the Grand River flows north through south-central Michigan, and the river still threads through the city, curving past the downtown grid on its way toward Lansing. The streets form a largely regular pattern of blocks, with railway lines cutting diagonally across them, a legacy of the city's role as a nineteenth-century rail junction.
The city has a well-known place in American political history: in July 1854, a gathering held under the oaks in Jackson is often cited as the first official meeting of the Republican Party, and a marker still commemorates the site. On a Jackson map poster, that history sits within an ordinary Midwestern street pattern, which is part of its appeal.
Interstate 94 runs along the northern edge of the city, and around the core are parks, small lakes and quiet residential neighbourhoods. The Cascades, an illuminated series of artificial waterfalls in Sparks Foundation County Park, are a local landmark, while the lake country of Jackson County spreads out in every direction beyond the city limits.

Rail lines
Diagonal railway corridors cross the grid, remnants of Jackson's history as a rail hub and a distinctive graphic element in the composition.
Lakes and parks
Around the city, the map picks up numerous small lakes and green spaces, adding scattered shapes that balance the dense street pattern at the centre.
