Janūb as Surrah Map Poster & Print
Janūb as Surrah is a residential area in Kuwait, part of the broad band of planned suburbs that spread out from Kuwait City during the second half of the twentieth century. Its map follows the pattern used throughout the country: large districts divided into numbered blocks, each block filled with residential streets, and the whole bounded by wide expressways.
Inside the blocks, the streets curve and loop to form quiet neighbourhoods, with cul-de-sacs, mosques, schools and small commercial centres placed in recognisable positions. The surrounding motorways carry traffic in long, straight lines, and interchanges appear as sweeping curved shapes where the roads meet.
A Janūb as Surrah map poster captures this distinctive planning style from above, with its strong contrast between the heavy geometry of the highway network and the finer pattern of residential streets. For those who live here or grew up here, it shows a familiar layout of block, street and home.

Motorway edges
Wide expressways border the district, giving the map strong straight boundaries and large curved interchanges that frame the residential streets inside.
Residential loops
Within each block, curving streets and cul-de-sacs create a finer, more intimate pattern that contrasts with the scale of the roads around them.
