Valley floor streets
The urban area packs into the valley bottom, so the street pattern forms a long, narrow band rather than spreading evenly in every direction.

Jinshanlu Map Poster & Print
Jinshanlu lies in the far north of Xinjiang, in the urban area of Altay at the southern foot of the Altai Mountains. The name draws on Jinshan, or Golden Mountain, the Chinese name for the Altai range. On a map the built-up area follows a river valley, with streets packed along the valley floor and slopes rising steeply on either side.
This is a region of long, snowy winters and short summers, close to the borders with Kazakhstan, Russia and Mongolia. The wider Altay area is known for its mountain scenery, pastures and grasslands, and for winter sports, as deep snow lies on the surrounding slopes for months each year. The city serves as the administrative centre of Altay Prefecture.
A Jinshanlu map poster shows an urban shape dictated by terrain: a long, narrow band of streets that follows the river, with bridges crossing at intervals and the grid breaking off where the hills begin. The contrast between the dense valley floor and the empty mountainsides beyond makes an unusually clean and directional composition.

River through town
A river runs along the valley and through the centre, crossed by a series of bridges that appear as short strokes across the map.
Mountain slopes
On both sides the ground rises into the foothills of the Altai, where streets stop abruptly and the map opens into blank space.
