Kouri Map Poster & Print
Kouri lies in the Sikasso region of southern Mali, not far from the border with Burkina Faso. It is a rural town, and on a map it appears as a compact settlement of streets and compounds surrounded by farmland. The wider landscape is savanna, one of the greener and more agricultural parts of the country.
The street pattern shows how the town has grown over time. Clusters of compounds are linked by irregular lanes, and a handful of roads lead out to neighbouring villages and fields. There is no ring road or formal grid. The structure is local and organic, shaped by daily movement rather than by planners.
A Kouri map poster fixes this pattern on paper with its coordinates, a specific and personal record of a place rarely seen on maps. Pull the frame in to focus on the lanes of the centre, or pull back to show the town as an island of streets in open country.

Roads to the villages
A few routes run from town into the surrounding countryside, strong lines that lead the eye from the centre to the edges of the frame.
Savanna farmland
Open farmland surrounds Kouri on all sides, filling the outer frame with quiet space that sets off the town's compact shape.
