Caspian shoreline
The coast runs almost straight along the city's eastern side, a single clean line that separates dense blocks from open water and anchors the whole composition.

Makhachkala Map Poster & Print
Makhachkala stretches along the western shore of the Caspian Sea, and on a map it reads as a long ribbon rather than a compact centre. The coastline forms a clean edge on one side. On the other, the slopes of Tarki-Tau rise sharply above the rooftops. In between, the main avenues run parallel to the water and short cross streets link them, like rungs on a ladder.
The city began in 1844 as a Russian fortification called Petrovskoye, later Petrovsk-Port, and took its current name in 1921. As the capital of Dagestan it gathers people from dozens of ethnic groups and languages, one of the most varied mixes anywhere in Russia. The port, the railway along the shore and the tight grid around the old fortress area all show on the map as the city's working core.
A Makhachkala map poster turns that narrow strip into a strong vertical or horizontal composition. The open Caspian takes up one side of the frame, the city fills the middle, and the lighter lines of the hills close off the other side. Lake Ak-Gel, inside the city limits, adds a softer shape among the blocks, and the coastline gives the whole print a firm, readable outline.

Tarki-Tau ridge
The mountain rising directly behind the city limits how far the streets can spread inland, which is why the urban fabric forms such a long, narrow strip.
Port and rail corridor
Harbour basins, piers and a railway line hug the shore, adding sharp geometric shapes and long parallel strokes to the waterfront edge of the map.

Zakaj Makhachkala
Zemljevid, ki nekaj pomeni
People who grew up between the mountains and the sea often want that particular geography on the wall, the feeling of a city with nowhere to go but along the coast. It also works as a quiet reminder of a trip to Dagestan or of family who still live there.
You can change the title, the subtitle and the coordinates line, so the print can carry a family name, a wedding date or simply the city in its own script. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, depending on the room and the frame.
