Mississippi riverfront
The broad river bends along the city's western edge, with Mud Island and the Wolf River harbour tucked against downtown. Together they give the poster a heavy, curving border.

Memphis Map Poster & Print
Memphis stands on bluffs above the Mississippi River in the south-west corner of Tennessee, and the river forms the entire western edge of its map. Downtown hugs the water in a compact grid, Mud Island stretches along the shore, and the city spreads east across flat ground in long straight avenues. The I-240 loop draws a rough ring around much of the older city.
Memphis is one of the capitals of American music. Beale Street was a centre of the blues, Sun Studio recorded early work by Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash, and Graceland lies in the south of the city. The Lorraine Motel, where Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated in 1968, now houses the National Civil Rights Museum.
A Memphis map poster captures the contrast between the great sweep of the river and the ordered grid that faces it. Bridges cross west to Arkansas, rail yards and freeways cut clear lines through the neighbourhoods, and green spaces such as Overton Park and Shelby Farms soften the pattern farther east.

Bridges to Arkansas
The Hernando de Soto Bridge, with its distinctive M-shaped arches, and a group of older road and rail bridges to the south appear as thin lines over the wide water.
Overton Park
In Midtown, this large park holds the Memphis Zoo and a stretch of old-growth forest. It appears as a calm open patch within the surrounding residential grid.

Zakaj Memphis
Zemljevid, ki nekaj pomeni
Memphis means something specific to many people: music, family roots in the Delta, years at university or a job at one of the city's big employers. A clean map of its grid and river keeps that connection visible without leaning on clichés.
