Nova Petrópolis Map Poster & Print
Nova Petrópolis lies in the Serra Gaúcha, the highland region north of Porto Alegre, and was settled in the nineteenth century largely by German immigrants. The town's plan shows that heritage in a measured way: a tidy central grid with squares and gardens, surrounded by roads that leave the grid behind and begin to follow the contours of the hills.
The town is widely regarded as a cradle of cooperativism in Brazil, as the country's first credit cooperative was founded in the area at the start of the twentieth century. It also presents itself as a garden town, and on a map the parks and planted squares show up as regular open shapes set among the blocks of the centre.
Beyond the centre the map loosens into winding rural roads, farm tracks and scattered houses, which gives a Nova Petrópolis map poster an unusual balance of order and irregularity. The main highway through the region crosses the frame as a single confident curve, while smaller roads branch off along the slopes toward the surrounding valleys and farming communities.

Hill roads
Outside the centre, streets bend to follow ridges and valleys, drawing loose, flowing lines that give the poster movement and show how terrain shaped settlement.
Garden squares
Planted squares and parks sit within the centre as calm open spaces, reflecting the town's long attention to gardens and public greenery.

Zakaj Nova Petrópolis
Zemljevid, ki nekaj pomeni
For families with roots among the German settlers of the Serra, or for travellers who spent a cold winter weekend in the hills, Nova Petrópolis is a map with meaning. Add a family name, a founding year or a wedding date in the title and subtitle, and adjust the coordinates line to suit.
The Sand and Paper styles bring out the warmth of the hills, while Blueprint and Noir emphasise the geometry of the grid, and Classic black & white is the most restrained option. Download a free 900 px preview first, then buy the HD files for $9 or order a matte print, framed if you like.
