Ridge-top roads
Roads in this part of Rwanda tend to follow the crests and flanks of hills, so their curves on the poster trace the shape of the land beneath.

Nzega Map Poster & Print
Nzega is a small place in the Southern Province of Rwanda, a region of steep hills, cultivated slopes and narrow valleys. As in much of the country, settlement here tends to follow the ridges, with homes and fields spread along the higher ground and the valley bottoms used for farming and water. It is a local community rather than a well-known destination, and its map reflects that.
From above, the terrain shapes almost everything. Roads and paths curve along hillsides instead of running straight, and buildings cluster where the land levels out. Cultivated plots divide the slopes into fine patches, and streams wind through the lower ground. The landscape has a layered, contoured quality that is characteristic of Rwanda's highlands.
A Nzega map poster keeps this landscape in simple line work. The winding roads and scattered clusters of settlement describe the hills without any contour shading. It is a quiet, personal image. It means the most to people born in the area or whose family still lives there, and to visitors who spent time in the Southern Province.

Hillside settlement
Homes are spread across the slopes and ridges rather than gathered in a single dense centre. This produces a loose, scattered pattern across the map.
Valley floors
The lower ground between the hills is used for cultivation and carries small watercourses. It appears as quieter channels running between the more settled ridges.
