Branching lanes
Narrow roads fork repeatedly between house compounds and gardens, creating a delicate branching pattern that fills the print with fine detail.

Olavanna Map Poster & Print
Olavanna is a panchayat area on the southern outskirts of Kozhikode, on the Malabar coast of Kerala. Like much of this coast, it does not look like a town with a centre and an edge. Houses are scattered through dense greenery, connected by narrow lanes that twist around compound walls, paddy land and small waterways. Only a few main roads cut straight through.
From above, this creates a fine, branching street network, more like the veins of a leaf than a grid. Low-lying wet ground and streams divide the area. The Arabian Sea coast and the river mouths around Kozhikode are close by, and the city itself grows denser to the north. Olavanna shows the gradual shift from urban Kozhikode to the semi-rural villages beyond.
An Olavanna map poster suits a place people usually describe by landmarks rather than addresses, such as the temple, the junction or the family house down a particular lane. On a print, that intricate network becomes clear for the first time. It is especially meaningful for families from Malabar who now live in the Gulf or further afield.

Wetland patches
Low paddy land and small streams leave open, unbuilt areas among the settlements and mark where the ground stays wet for much of the year.
Arterial roads
A few main roads linking the area with central Kozhikode run straight through the intricate local network and give the composition its structure.

Zakaj Olavanna
Zemljevid, ki nekaj pomeni
Many people with roots in Olavanna now live far from Kerala, and a map of the lanes around the family home keeps that place close. It also works for anyone who finds beauty in unplanned, organic street patterns.
You can title the print in English or add a Malayalam name in the subtitle, along with a date or house name. Then choose a style. Paper and Sand suit the green, soft character of the area, and Blueprint gives it a more technical look.
