Planned town centre
Residential blocks follow a regular, mid-century plan, giving the core of the map a tidy geometry that contrasts with the terrain around it.

Olenegorsk Map Poster & Print
Olenegorsk lies well north of the Arctic Circle in Murmansk Oblast, on the Kola Peninsula. It grew in the mid-twentieth century around iron ore mining, and its layout reflects that planned origin: a compact residential core with regular blocks and broad streets, set apart from the industrial zone that serves the mines. The railway toward Murmansk passes nearby and links the town to the rest of the region.
The landscape around it is shaped by glaciation. Lakes of many sizes scatter across the map, their irregular outlines dominating the white space around the town. Low hills, sparse northern forest and wetland fill the gaps. The open-pit workings to the north and west create their own distinctive shapes, stepped and angular against the softer edges of the natural shorelines.
The name is usually translated as something close to deer mountain, recalling the reindeer that once gave the area its character. An Olenegorsk map poster shows a town that is deliberately small and ordered, surrounded by a much larger, wilder terrain of water and rock, and it does so with the clarity that suits this spare northern setting.

Glacial lakes
Lakes with ragged, irregular shorelines surround the town, turning much of the map into a pattern of water shapes separated by thin strips of land.
Mining landscape
Open-pit workings and industrial roads to the side of the town add angular, terraced forms that stand apart from the natural contours.

Zakaj Olenegorsk
Zemljevid, ki nekaj pomeni
Olenegorsk is a place people often remember strongly, whether they grew up there, worked in the mines or served in the region. A map of it holds that memory of long winters, lakes and a small, close town in the far north.
You can add a personal title and subtitle, a date and your own coordinates line. The Noir style suits the polar night, while Paper or Sand soften it; Classic black & white and Blueprint are also available.
