Mile-grid layout
Major arterial roads fall on a one-mile grid, so the southern city reads as a field of large squares, each filled with its own pattern of looping residential streets.

Peoria Map Poster & Print
Peoria sits in the West Valley of metropolitan Phoenix and is unusually long from north to south. Its southern part is built on the familiar desert grid of section-line roads spaced a mile apart, filled in with curving subdivisions and cul-de-sacs. Further north the grid loosens, streets become sparse, and the city boundary climbs into open desert and rugged hills.
The dry beds of the Agua Fria and New rivers cut across parts of the city, visible as pale channels between neighbourhoods. At the far north, the city limits reach Lake Pleasant, a reservoir popular for boating. Peoria is also known for the Peoria Sports Complex, where Major League Baseball teams hold spring training each year.
A Peoria map poster shows how a modern Sun Belt city is drawn: the square-mile blocks, the loops of residential streets inside them, the freeway curve of Loop 101 and the wide areas that are still desert. It is an orderly, almost geometric image that works particularly well in larger formats such as 50×70 cm or 24×36″.

Dry river channels
The Agua Fria and New River washes run through the city as broad sandy corridors, soft diagonal breaks in an otherwise rigid street layout.
Lake Pleasant
Far to the north, the reservoir's irregular shoreline adds a large body of water to an arid map, surrounded by desert ridges and very few streets.

Zakaj Peoria
Zemljevid, ki nekaj pomeni
Many people move to Peoria for the space, the sun and the easy pace, and a map of the neighbourhood where they settled or grew up makes a personal piece for a home office or entryway. It is also a thoughtful gift for spring training regulars.
Put your street, family name or move-in date in the title and subtitle, and keep or change the coordinates line. Sand pairs naturally with the desert setting, though Classic black & white, Noir, Paper and Blueprint are all available. The $9 download includes six sizes as 300 DPI PNG and PDF files.
