Piranshahr Map Poster & Print
Piranshahr lies in the south of West Azerbaijan province, in the Zagros mountains close to Iran's border with the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. The city occupies a valley floor surrounded by rising slopes, so the terrain defines its shape on a map. Streets fill the level ground and thin out where the land begins to climb toward the ridges.
Most residents are Kurdish, and the city has long been a local centre for trade and farming in the surrounding valleys and uplands. Its steady growth in recent decades has spread new neighbourhoods across the valley floor. Main roads run through the city and on toward neighbouring towns and the nearby border crossing.
The land around Piranshahr is agricultural, with fields along the valley and open ground on the surrounding hills. A Piranshahr map poster captures a mountain city in simple black lines. It shows a dense centre, roads threading out between the slopes, and the empty space of the high ground framing it on every side.

Roads through the hills
Main routes leave the city and follow the valleys between the ridges, drawing a few clear lines out into otherwise open terrain.
Border country
The frontier with Iraq lies only a short distance away, and a wider frame brings the mountains of the border region into view.
