The river swings through the town in broad loops, pulling streets and green space into curves. It is the strongest natural line on the map.

Radcliffe Map Poster & Print
Radcliffe is in the Metropolitan Borough of Bury in Greater Manchester, spread along the valley of the River Irwell. The river loops through the town in wide bends, and much of the map is organised around it. Terraced streets sit on the higher ground, former industrial land lines the water, and the town centre gathers near the crossing.
Like many Lancashire towns, Radcliffe grew in the nineteenth century with textile, paper and chemical works. The long, parallel rows of terraced houses from that period still survive. The route of the Manchester, Bolton and Bury Canal passes through the area, and the Metrolink line toward Bury draws a firm straight line across the town.
A Radcliffe map poster suits people who know the place from the inside: the walk along the river, the way the streets drop toward the valley, the tram into Manchester. In fine linework, the town's working past and its green riverside edges come through together, with no need for decoration.

Terraced rows
Long, parallel rows of terraced houses form tight striped blocks, a clear trace of how the town grew during the nineteenth century.
Radcliffe Tower
The remains of a medieval tower house near the river point to a history much older than the mills. They stand among later streets on the valley floor.
