Royal Oak Map Poster & Print
Royal Oak lies just north of Detroit in Oakland County, and its map is a clear example of the metro area's mile-road grid. Main roads run at one-mile intervals east–west and north–south, and within each square there is a dense grid of small residential streets. Woodward Avenue runs diagonally through the city, breaking the pattern with its long northwest line.
Two freeways shape the south and east. Interstate 696 runs along the southern edge, and Interstate 75 passes to the east. The Detroit Zoo sits at the junction of Woodward and I-696 and appears as a large green area. Downtown Royal Oak, a lively centre of restaurants and shops, is close to the railway.
Every August the Woodward Dream Cruise brings classic cars along the avenue through the city. A Royal Oak map poster shows the dense residential grid, the diagonal Woodward line and the open spaces of the zoo and parks, making a detailed, balanced print of a well-loved suburb.

Detroit Zoo
The zoo occupies a large area near Woodward and I-696. Its open grounds contrast with the dense street grid around it.
Mile-road grid
Main roads at one-mile intervals divide the city into squares filled with small streets. The pattern gives Royal Oak a very even, detailed texture.
