Scotch Plains Map Poster & Print
Scotch Plains is a township in Union County, New Jersey, named after the Scottish settlers who came to the area in the late seventeenth century. Today it is a largely residential suburb within commuting distance of New York. Its older village centre sits beside neighbouring Fanwood, the two sharing a railway station and a main street area.
The map has two distinct halves. To the north, the land climbs onto the Watchung Mountains, and a large wooded reservation fills the ridge with blank green space, crossed only by a few winding roads. To the south, streets settle into a gentler suburban pattern: cul-de-sacs, looping lanes and a few long arterial roads.
A Scotch Plains map poster shows how the ridge and the plain meet, with the edge of the forest giving way to neighbourhoods. That wooded northern edge gives it a clear frame, and the fine suburban street pattern below makes it easy for residents to find their own block.

Suburban lanes
Much of the township consists of curving residential streets and cul-de-sacs, a soft, looping pattern typical of postwar New Jersey suburbs.
Village centre
Near the border with Fanwood, the older centre and railway line form a denser, straighter strip of streets through the middle of the map.
