The river sweeps through the city in wide curves and tight bends. It frames districts on both banks and gives the entire composition its shape and movement.

Shawinigan Map Poster & Print
Shawinigan follows the Saint-Maurice River through the Mauricie region of Quebec, and the river dominates the map. It bends sharply around the city, splits around islands and narrows at the falls. Neighborhoods sit on terraces and plateaus above the water, and forested hills and lakes surround the built-up area, especially to the north and west.
The city was founded at the start of the twentieth century around Shawinigan Falls. The falls' hydroelectric potential drew power companies and heavy industry, including aluminium and chemical plants. The Cité de l'énergie now tells that story from a site by the river. Shawinigan is also known as the hometown of former Canadian prime minister Jean Chrétien.
After the 2002 merger with Grand-Mère and several neighbouring municipalities, the city covers a long stretch of the river valley. A Shawinigan map poster brings together the older industrial core, the residential grids above it and the sweeping curves of the Saint-Maurice. Few river cities in Quebec are as expressive when drawn in black and white.

Shawinigan Falls
The falls and the power stations around them mark the point where the city began. This narrow, rocky section of the river remains central to Shawinigan's identity.
Grand-Mère sector
Upstream to the north, the former town of Grand-Mère adds its own grid of streets along the river. It extends the map into a longer city that follows the valley.

Zakaj Shawinigan
Zemljevid, ki nekaj pomeni
For people from the Mauricie, the curves of the Saint-Maurice are instantly recognisable. A Shawinigan map suits a cottage, a family home or a new apartment in Montreal as a quiet reminder of the river, the falls and the neighbourhoods above them.
The title and subtitle can be written in French or English, with a date or a family name, and the coordinates can point to a specific street. Choose one of five styles, from Noir to Paper, then download the HD files for $9 or order a printed poster.
