Someshwar sits in the Western Ghats in Karnataka, where the coastal lowlands meet the escarpment. From above, the plan is loose rather than dense. A handful of roads meet near the centre, and houses and plots spread out along them. Wide patches of forest and farmland fill the gaps, so on paper the empty space counts as much as the lines.
