Springfield Map Poster & Print
Springfield sits in Clark County, in west-central Ohio, between Dayton and Columbus. From above, its downtown is a firm grid of blocks, with the historic National Road, now US 40, running east to west through the middle. Buck Creek winds across the north side of the centre, and the Mad River runs to the west, both adding soft curves to the geometry.
Known as the Champion City, a name tied to the farm machinery once made here, Springfield grew as an industrial town in the nineteenth century. Its hilltop campus of Wittenberg University is a clear landmark on the map, and the city also holds the Westcott House, a Prairie-style home designed by Frank Lloyd Wright.
A Springfield map poster reads like a lesson in how a Midwestern manufacturing city was built: a crossroads, a grid, rail lines, then neighbourhoods spreading outward. The creek corridors and parks break up that order in places, giving the composition a mix of straight streets and natural lines.
