Downtown on hills
The historic centre is laid out as a grid, but the hills pull and tilt it, so blocks vary in size and streets meet at slightly uneven angles across the map.

Staunton Map Poster & Print
Staunton lies in the Shenandoah Valley of western Virginia, between the Blue Ridge to the east and the Allegheny ridges to the west. On a map the city looks restless in a pleasant way: the downtown grid bends to fit steep hills, Lewis Creek threads through the low ground, and the railroad line cuts a firm diagonal past the old station. Residential streets then spread outward in looser curves.
The city is known as the birthplace of Woodrow Wilson, whose family home now forms part of his presidential library. Downtown is also home to the Blackfriars Playhouse, a recreation of the indoor theatre Shakespeare's company used in London, where the American Shakespeare Center performs. Much of the centre is made up of well-kept nineteenth-century commercial blocks set on sloping streets.
A Staunton map poster turns this uneven terrain into a clear graphic pattern. Short, stepped downtown blocks contrast with the broad open shape of Gypsy Hill Park to the north, the campus of Mary Baldwin University sits on its hillside close to the centre, and the curving roads of the outer neighbourhoods show how the city climbed its hills as it grew.

Gypsy Hill Park
A large city park north of downtown, it appears as a wide, calm space of loops and paths, an obvious anchor among the surrounding residential streets.
Creek and railroad
Lewis Creek and the railroad both follow the low ground through the city, drawing two long lines that explain where the flatter land and the older station district lie.

Zakaj Staunton
Zemljevid, ki nekaj pomeni
Staunton suits people who studied at Mary Baldwin, spent summers in the Shenandoah Valley, or remember an evening at the Blackfriars. The city is small enough that the whole centre reads clearly on one sheet, which makes it a quietly personal map rather than a generic one.
Add a title, a subtitle such as a wedding or graduation date, and the coordinates line of a meaningful address. Then pick one of five styles, Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, to suit a study, hallway or living room.
