The border line
The international boundary crosses the top of the map as a single ruled line, with the street grid of San Diego's southern neighbourhoods visible on the other side.

Tijuana Map Poster & Print
Tijuana sits in the north-west corner of Mexico, directly across the border from San Diego, and the frontier is the straightest line on its map. South of it, the city spreads over hills and canyons in a pattern that constantly changes direction, with streets following ridges and ravines rather than any single grid. Only in the older centre do the blocks settle into regular rows.
The San Ysidro crossing between Tijuana and San Diego is one of the busiest land border crossings in the world. The Tijuana River runs through the city in a concrete channel before crossing into the United States, and Avenida Revolución, the historic tourist street, runs through downtown. To the west, Playas de Tijuana meets the Pacific where the border fence reaches into the sea.
A Tijuana map poster gives weight to all of these elements: the ruled line of the border, the angular channel of the river, the calm grid of downtown and the restless hillside colonias. In black and white, the tension between order and topography becomes the real subject, and the coastline gives the drawing a clean western edge.

River channel
The Tijuana River runs through the city in a straight concrete channel, a long geometric band cutting through the otherwise irregular street pattern.
Hills and canyons
Away from the centre, streets twist around steep slopes and ravines, producing a dense, organic texture very different from the flat grid of downtown.
