Tobruk Map Poster & Print
Tobruk sits on the coast of eastern Libya beside one of the best natural harbours on the North African shore, a long inlet sheltered from the open sea by a headland. On a map the town occupies the land on the north side of the harbour, and the calm water forms a clear, elongated shape reaching inland. Beyond the town the country rises gently into a dry, stony plateau cut by shallow wadis.
The harbour made Tobruk strategically important in the Second World War. In 1941 Allied forces held the town through a long siege, and it changed hands again in 1942. Commonwealth, German and French war cemeteries in the area are still visited today, and the name Tobruk remains closely tied to that campaign.
A Tobruk map poster sets the modest street pattern of the town against the strong forms of the harbour and the coast. The print is simple and spare, with sea, land and a small grid of streets, and that clarity reflects the stark coastal landscape in which the town lies.

Zakaj Tobruk
Zemljevid, ki nekaj pomeni
For descendants of those who served there, for historians of the North African campaign and for Libyans with roots in the town, Tobruk carries a weight few places share. The map offers a calm, respectful way to remember it.
Personalise the title and subtitle, perhaps with a name and the years 1941 or 1942, and adjust the coordinates line. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, as a digital file or printed poster.
