Wangwu is a town on the island of Hainan, China's southernmost province, in the low-lying northwest of the island within the Danzhou area. The landscape here is gently rolling tropical country. On a map the town shows as a modest cluster of streets where local roads meet, surrounded by a wide patchwork of fields, plantations and small villages.
Northwestern Hainan is less mountainous than the island's centre. Its roads run fairly freely across the land, bending around ponds, streams and field boundaries rather than climbing through valleys.
