Westonaria Map Poster & Print
Westonaria lies on the West Rand, south-west of Johannesburg, on the flat, open highveld. It grew up as a service town for the gold mines, and the map still reflects that. Planned residential areas sit near large mining properties, and there are wide spaces between the different parts of the town.
Near the town and around it, the surface bears the marks of mining. Shafts, rail spurs, processing sites and tailings dams create large, geometric shapes that look almost abstract from above. Townships and informal settlements have grown alongside the older suburbs, so the built-up area is spread out across the landscape.
A Westonaria map poster shows a place shaped by what lies underground: orderly streets, large blank areas of mining land and long roads connecting the town to the rest of Gauteng. It is a direct portrait of South Africa's gold country.

Open highveld
Wide, flat land separates the different settlements and gives the map a spacious, scattered structure.

Zakaj Westonaria
Zemljevid, ki nekaj pomeni
Westonaria means a lot to mining families and to people who grew up on the West Rand. Its map records a working landscape that has shaped several generations of South African life.
The title, subtitle and coordinates can all be changed to add a name or a date, and you can choose Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Sand works well for the highveld.
