Williamstown Map Poster & Print
Williamstown is the main community of Monroe Township in Gloucester County, in the southern part of New Jersey. Its map combines two very different patterns: an older centre built around long-established regional roads, and newer residential developments that spread out from it in curving streets, loops and cul-de-sacs laid over former farmland and woods.
The area sits at the edge of the New Jersey Pinelands, and stretches of pine and oak forest still separate one neighbourhood from the next. Lakes and streams appear across the township, and the roads running out of town head towards Philadelphia to the northwest and the Atlantic shore to the southeast.
A Williamstown map poster shows how American suburbs grow outward from an older core. The straight lines of the historic roads, the looping streets of the subdivisions and the empty spaces of woodland make a composition that is both orderly and loose, and very much of its region.

Curving subdivisions
Around the centre, newer neighbourhoods fill the map with looping streets and cul-de-sacs, a distinctive pattern that becomes an intricate texture in black and white.
Pinelands edge
Blocks of forest and scattered lakes break up the suburban fabric, leaving open areas on the poster that reflect the pine country surrounding the town.
