Delta creeks
Thin waterways wind through the town and ignore the road grid. They are what remains of the old delta landscape, and the draughtsman's line still follows them.

Xinqiao Map Poster & Print
Xinqiao lies in Songjiang, on the southwestern side of Shanghai, where the Yangtze delta is almost perfectly flat. From above, the town is a patchwork. Long rectangular factory plots sit beside dense residential compounds, and narrow creeks run between them. Some of these waterways are older than any of the roads, and they still break the grid into irregular pieces.
The larger roads run in straight lines across the plain. They link Xinqiao with the rest of Songjiang and with central Shanghai to the northeast. In black and white, the thick arterial lines stand out against a fine texture of estate lanes and small courtyards. Pale, empty areas show open land that has not yet been built on.
A Xinqiao map poster shows a kind of place that rarely gets drawn on its own: a working town on the edge of a very large city. There is no single landmark at the centre. Instead the poster is about pattern. Water, industry and housing each keep their own geometry, and the page shows how they fit together on the plain.

Industrial plots
Large rectangular parcels with few internal streets appear as calm, open blocks. They contrast with the dense lanes of the housing estates beside them.
Arterial roads
Wide straight roads cross the flat ground and tie Xinqiao into the wider Songjiang and Shanghai network. They give the composition a firm frame.

Zakaj Xinqiao
Zemljevid, ki nekaj pomeni
People who have lived or worked in Xinqiao often find that it disappears inside maps of greater Shanghai. A poster centred on the town gives it its own frame. You can set the title and subtitle, add a date such as a move or a first job, and keep the coordinates line or rewrite it.
The busy mix of creeks and compounds suits every one of the five styles. Classic black & white shows the most detail, while Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand change the mood. The digital files cost $9 and cover six print sizes. Printed posters on matte paper can be ordered with an optional wooden frame.
