The main streets follow the valley floors where the land is level, giving the town an elongated, natural shape rather than a regular grid.

Xishan Map Poster & Print
Xishan lies in eastern Hunan, a region of rolling hills, narrow valleys and rice fields toward the border with Jiangxi. On a map the settlement follows the terrain: streets run along the valley floors, while the slopes around them stay open, with small roads winding up toward villages and farmland.
The pattern here is shaped by the land rather than by a grand plan. Denser streets cluster where the ground is flattest, and threads of road connect them to scattered hamlets and to larger towns in the surrounding counties.
A Xishan map poster reduces that landscape to its lines. With the streets and waterways drawn in black on white, the way the town fits into its hills becomes clear, and the result is a quiet, balanced composition.

Winding hill roads
Narrow roads curve up and around the surrounding slopes, adding fine, looping lines to the edges of the composition.
Farmland at the edges
Open fields and rural lanes surround the built-up area, leaving calm space that lets the central streets stand out clearly.
