Seven oyster ports
Small harbours cut into the shoreline at intervals, each a narrow channel of working boats and wooden cabins. Together they give the waterfront its distinctive comb-like pattern.

Gujan-Mestras Map Poster & Print
Gujan-Mestras stretches along the southern shore of the Bassin d'Arcachon, the large tidal bay on the Atlantic coast of Gironde. Its map is long and narrow, running east–west between the water on one side and the pine forest of the Landes on the other. Residential streets fill the band between them, with a main road and the railway running parallel to the shore.
The town is often called the oyster-farming capital of the bay. Its shoreline is broken by seven small ports, each a narrow channel lined with the cabins and sheds of oyster farmers. On a map they appear as short parallel inlets cutting inland from the water, repeated at intervals along the coast like the teeth of a comb.
At low tide much of the bay drains into mudflats and channels, which the map shows as shifting, branching forms offshore. Inland, the streets of the town give way to the regular plots of the forest. A Gujan-Mestras map poster brings those layers together: water, working harbours, houses and pines in one clearly ordered strip.

Arcachon Bay channels
Tidal channels wind across the bay in branching lines. On the poster they are drawn as delicate forms that change the character of the whole coastline.
Landes pine forest
South of the town, forest tracks cross the pines in long, straight lines, a calm geometric backdrop to the busy waterfront.
