Bhātāpāra sits on the broad, flat plain of central Chhattisgarh, in a landscape shaped almost entirely by rice farming. From above, the town is a tight cluster of streets and lanes, with open fields reaching right up to its edges. There are no dramatic hills or coastlines here.
