Mapa
Cramlington Map Poster & Print
Cramlington is a town in south-east Northumberland, north of Newcastle upon Tyne. It grew rapidly as a planned new town from the 1960s onwards. The map shows this clearly: instead of a grid, it is made up of residential estates with curving roads and cul-de-sacs, separated by green corridors and connected by main distributor roads.
The town centre sits at the middle of the layout, and industrial estates are grouped along the edges. Main roads, including the A19, run nearby, and the town is also home to the Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital. The green spaces and footpaths between the estates add open bands between the built-up areas.
A Cramlington map poster shows a pattern that is very different from older towns. The loops and branches of the estate roads create an organic, almost cellular texture, and the green belts divide it into clear districts. It suits people who grew up here and anyone interested in post-war town planning.

Green corridors
Strips of parkland and footpaths run between the estates, showing up as open bands that divide the map into distinct neighbourhoods.
Distributor roads
Main roads loop around and between the districts, linking them to the town centre and the A19 and giving the poster its large-scale structure.
