Alter Flecken rows
The historic core shows as a small block of closely spaced parallel streets, a rare planned pattern for a hill town, rebuilt after the seventeenth-century fire in the half-timbered form still seen today.

Freudenberg Map Poster & Print
Freudenberg sits in the hills of the Siegerland in the south of North Rhine-Westphalia, where valleys fold into one another and roads follow the streams. On a map the town reads as a scatter of settlements linked by curving routes, with the historic core a small, unusually regular block set against a slope. Forest covers much of the surrounding ground, so built areas appear as pale islands in a darker field.
The core is the Alter Flecken, the old town whose black-and-white half-timbered houses stand in near-parallel rows under dark slate roofs. It was rebuilt in this orderly pattern after a fire in the seventeenth century, and the view of it from the park on the slope opposite has become one of the best-known images of German timber-frame architecture.
That contrast between strict rows and loose hill roads gives a Freudenberg map poster its character. The old town is compact enough to read clearly at small print sizes, while the valleys, junctions and outlying villages fill the rest of the sheet with gentle curves. It works well centred on the Flecken or zoomed out to show the town within its wooded setting.

Valley roads
Outside the centre, streets bend along stream valleys and ridgelines, giving the map long curving strokes that contrast with the regular old town and trace how the land shapes movement.
Forest edges
Wooded hills press close on most sides, so the settled areas stand out as distinct clusters, each separated by open ground that stays empty and calm on a minimalist print.

Zašto Freudenberg
Mapa koja nešto znači
People choose Freudenberg for a home they grew up in, a family connection to the Siegerland, or a visit to the half-timbered old town. The map gives the place a quieter form than a photograph, reducing it to rows, curves and slopes that still feel recognisable to anyone who knows it.
You can set your own title, subtitle and coordinates line, for example a family name or the year you moved, and pick from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The digital HD files cost $9, or you can order a printed poster on matte paper with an optional wooden frame.
