Passaic River edge
The river forms Garfield's western boundary, a curving line that separates it from the city of Passaic. It gives the dense grid a natural border.

Garfield Map Poster & Print
Garfield is a small city in Bergen County, New Jersey, on the east bank of the Passaic River across from the city of Passaic. It is closely built, with a tight grid of residential streets, two- and three-family houses and commercial avenues. On a map it looks dense and even, framed by the curve of the river along its western edge.
The city was named after President James A. Garfield. It grew as an industrial town whose textile and woollen mills drew immigrants from across Europe. In 1926 its mill workers joined the long Passaic textile strike, one of the notable labour actions of the time. Former mill sites and rail lines are still part of the street pattern.
A Garfield map poster shows a classic North Jersey townscape in miniature: a steady grid, a few diagonal roads, the rail corridor and the river bending along the edge. It appeals to people who grew up here, to families whose story in America began in its mills, and to anyone who likes a clear urban composition.

Tight residential grid
Small blocks of houses fill most of the city, creating an even, finely textured pattern. It looks especially sharp in Classic black & white.
Mill heritage
Former industrial sites near the river and rail lines recall the woollen and textile mills. Those mills drew generations of immigrant workers to the city.
