Moated castle
Kasteel Hoensbroek and its water-filled moat make a clean, recognisable shape in the green belt near the centre, one of the clearest features on the map.

Hoensbroek Map Poster & Print
Hoensbroek is part of the municipality of Heerlen in South Limburg, the area of the Netherlands where coal mining once shaped whole towns. The mines brought rapid growth in the twentieth century. Neighbourhoods of workers' housing went up around the older village core, and on the map they show as groups of regular streets set on gently rolling ground.
The best-known landmark is Kasteel Hoensbroek, one of the largest moated castles in the Low Countries. On the map its moat and grounds form a distinct geometric shape inside the green space at the edge of the centre. The former mining sites have largely been redeveloped, but the road network still reflects how the town grew around them.
A Hoensbroek map poster traces two layers of history in one drawing: the castle and old core, and the mining-era neighbourhoods that grew up around them. It is a fitting print for families with roots in the Limburg mining region, and for anyone who knows the castle's courtyard and the streets leading up to it.

Mining neighbourhoods
Groups of workers' housing from the mining era show up as regular blocks of parallel streets, arranged differently from the older roads around the village core.
South Limburg terrain
The land here rises and falls more than most of the Netherlands, and the curving roads follow those gentle slopes around the town's edges.
