Mapa
Leisure City Map Poster & Print
Leisure City is a census-designated place in southern Miami-Dade County, Florida, just north of Homestead. From above it is a clear example of South Florida's mid-century suburban growth. It is a regular grid of residential streets and small lots, crossed by long arterial roads that run straight north-south and east-west across the flat terrain.
Hurricane Andrew severely damaged the area in August 1992, when its eyewall passed across southern Miami-Dade and destroyed or damaged a large share of local homes. The neighborhoods were rebuilt over the following years. The street pattern survives largely as it was laid out decades earlier.
Around Leisure City the map shows the agricultural land of the Redland area, drainage canals, and the approach to Everglades and Biscayne national parks. A Leisure City map poster places an ordinary American neighborhood within that wider setting. It shows a grid of homes at the edge of a landscape defined by water and wetland.

Highways
US 1 and Florida's Turnpike run close by, drawing long diagonal and straight lines through the area. They connect it north to Miami and south to Homestead and the Keys.
Canals and fields
Drainage canals and open farmland surround the neighborhoods. They add long, straight waterways and wide blank areas to the edges of the map.
