Menzel Jemil lies in Bizerte governorate in the far north of Tunisia, a short way east of the Lake of Bizerte. This large lagoon connects to the Mediterranean through a channel at the city of Bizerte. The town stands on low, fertile land. On a map its streets form a compact network surrounded by fields and groves.
The street pattern is dense and slightly irregular at the centre, with more regular blocks toward the edges. Roads lead west to Menzel Abderrahmane on the lakeshore, northwest toward Bizerte and the coast, and south across the agricultural plain.
