Valley main street
The core of the town runs along the lowest ground. It forms a long, dense spine from which the rest of the plan grows.

Mapa
Shihao Map Poster & Print
Shihao is a town in the Chongqing municipality of southwest China, in hilly country south of the main urban area. From above, the landscape decides everything. The streets follow valley floors and contour lines, and the built area stretches out where the ground allows rather than spreading evenly in all directions.
This part of Chongqing is known for its folded terrain, with ridges, narrow valleys and farmland cut into the slopes. Around Shihao, lanes and paths climb between fields and small settlements, and the road network splits and bends as it follows the land.
A Shihao map poster turns that terrain into line work. The main street follows the valley, and its side lanes run off at the angles set by the hills. Outside the town, fine paths trace the slopes. The print has an organic quality that is very different from a planned grid, and it rewards a closer look.

Contour lanes
Side roads curve around the hills instead of climbing straight up them. The curves suggest the relief even without contour lines on the map.
Surrounding farmland
Fields and small settlements fill the slopes around town. Fine tracks connect them, which gives the edges of the poster a delicate texture.
