Mapa
Shiyan Map Poster & Print
Shiyan lies in the rural hill country northeast of central Chongqing, in the eastern part of the Sichuan Basin, and is a different place from the larger city of Shiyan in Hubei. On a map the town is small and compact, its streets pressed into the valley floor and bending around low ridges, so the plan follows the land rather than any fixed grid.
Around the town, the countryside is folded into long ridges that run in parallel, a pattern typical of this part of the basin. Terraced fields, small reservoirs and ponds fill the valleys, and village roads climb and switch back between them. On the map these features create a flowing, layered texture that surrounds the denser lines of the town.
Shiyan is a local market town rather than a place on tourist routes, and its map reflects ordinary rural life in Chongqing, where settlement follows the valleys. A Shiyan map poster records this landscape precisely, a quiet and particular image for people who come from the town or have family ties to the area.

Parallel ridges
The hills around town run in long parallel lines, a characteristic landform of the eastern Sichuan Basin that gives the wider map a strong directional grain.
Ponds and terraces
Small reservoirs, ponds and terraced plots fill the valleys around town, scattering fine shapes across the outer parts of the finished poster.
