Mapa
Straelen Map Poster & Print
Straelen lies in the Kleve district of North Rhine-Westphalia, close to the Dutch border near Venlo. The town centre is compact and well defined, with a market square and a small network of streets around it. Beyond that the map changes character completely, opening into flat land divided into fields, nurseries and large glasshouses that reach almost to the border.
Horticulture is central to the town's identity. Straelen is one of Germany's major centres for growing vegetables and ornamental plants, and a large flower and plant auction operates here. From above, the rectangular footprints of the greenhouses create a geometric pattern of blocks and service roads that is unusual on a town map and very graphic in black and white.
Straelen is also home to the European Translators' College, a residence where literary translators from many countries come to work. A Straelen map poster frames the quiet old centre within its working landscape of glasshouses and fields, with the Dutch border never far from the edge of the sheet.

Greenhouse geometry
Large glasshouses and nurseries surround the town. Their rectangular outlines and straight access roads form a precise, grid-like pattern across much of the poster.
Border landscape
The flat Lower Rhine countryside runs on toward the Netherlands, and field boundaries and country lanes continue across the border without visible interruption, which a wider framing makes clear.
