Mapa
Sweetwater Map Poster & Print
Sweetwater lies in western Miami-Dade County, where the suburban grid of the Miami area approaches the edge of the Everglades. From above, the city is a tight block of residential streets set within the county's large road grid. The Tamiami Trail, the historic US 41 route across the Everglades, runs along its northern side, and canals frame parts of the area.
Directly next door is the main campus of Florida International University, whose quads, lakes and large buildings stand out clearly on the map. Sweetwater is known for its large Nicaraguan community, and the area is sometimes called Little Managua. Local history also tells of a group of Russian circus performers who helped found the town in the 1930s.
A Sweetwater map poster captures a small, dense piece of South Florida: straight streets, canals as clean lines, and the open ground of the campus and the land to the west. The flat terrain means the design is about pure geometry, with the grid and the water giving it its calm, regular structure.

FIU campus
The university's main campus sits beside Sweetwater, with its large buildings, lakes and green spaces. On the map it is an open, distinctive shape against the dense residential blocks.
Canals
Drainage canals cut straight lines across this part of Miami-Dade. They frame neighbourhoods and roads, and in the Blueprint style they become a key part of the design.
