Mapa
Taunton Map Poster & Print
Taunton lies in southeastern Massachusetts, the seat of Bristol County, and its map is organised around Taunton Green, a historic common from which several main roads radiate outwards. This hub-and-spoke pattern is typical of older New England towns, and here it is especially clear, with streets fanning out towards neighbouring communities across a wide municipal area.
The Taunton River winds through the city, with the Mill River joining it near the centre, and these waterways give the plan a flowing counterpoint to the radiating roads. Taunton grew as a manufacturing centre in the nineteenth century and became known as the Silver City for its silverware industry, a nickname it still carries.
Beyond the dense core, the city opens into suburban streets, wooded areas and ponds, with major highways passing around its edges. A Taunton map poster captures the green at the centre, the spokes leading away from it and the curving river through the middle, a classic New England town plan drawn in precise lines.
