Hillsborough River bends
The river loops along the city's edge in broad, irregular curves, giving the composition a strong natural boundary and a flowing line that contrasts with the built street pattern.

Mapa
Temple Terrace Map Poster & Print
Temple Terrace sits on the northeastern edge of the Tampa area, where the Hillsborough River swings through in a series of wide, slow bends. On a map the river forms much of the city's southern and eastern frame, and the streets closest to it follow its curves rather than any straight survey line.
The city began in the 1920s as a planned community in the Mediterranean Revival style, and its name recalls the Temple orange once grown in the surrounding groves. That early plan still shows from above: looping roads and gently arcing blocks wrap around open green space, a very different pattern from the rigid grid that covers much of Tampa to the west.
A Temple Terrace map poster captures that contrast in a single frame. Soft residential curves meet the straighter arterial roads toward the university district, the dark ribbon of the river cuts through wooded banks, and the open fairways read as calm pale shapes among the dense lines of housing. It is a quiet, legible layout that rewards a closer look.

1920s planned layout
Laid out as a planned Mediterranean Revival community, the older core shows curving streets and arcing blocks designed around landscape rather than a simple rectangular grid.
Golf course greens
Open fairways appear as wide pale areas framed by winding residential roads, one of the most recognisable features of the city when seen from above.
