Mapa
Whittlesea Map Poster & Print
Whittlesea lies in the Eastern Cape of South Africa, south of Komani, formerly Queenstown, in a landscape of rolling grassland and low hills. It began in the mid nineteenth century as a frontier settlement and took its name from Whittlesey in England, the birthplace of the colonial governor Sir Harry Smith. Today it serves as a local centre for the surrounding rural villages.
On the map the town reads as a small, fairly regular core of streets, with a main road passing through and linking it to the wider region. Beyond that core the pattern loosens. Homesteads and villages spread across the open land in clusters, joined by tracks and minor roads, and the terrain decides where settlement gathers and where it thins out.
A Whittlesea map poster captures the contrast between a defined town centre and the wide, lightly marked countryside around it. The result is spacious and calm, with much of the frame left open. It means the most to people with family roots in the area and to anyone who remembers the road in and out of town.

Regional road link
A main road runs through Whittlesea toward Komani and other towns. It draws a long line across the frame that ties the small centre to the wider Eastern Cape.
Open grassland
Much of the surrounding area is lightly built, so the map shows wide spaces broken only by scattered settlements and tracks. This quiet texture suits a minimalist print.
