Anglet lies on the Atlantic coast of the French Basque Country, between Biarritz to the south and Bayonne to the east. Its shoreline runs as a long, straight line of beaches from the rocky headland near Biarritz up to the mouth of the Adour, where jetties guide the river into the sea. Behind the beaches, the town spreads inland in a loose, green pattern of residential streets.
Anglet is one of the best-known surf spots in France, with a string of beaches including the Chambre d'Amour at its southern end. North of the town centre, the Chiberta pine forest and a golf course cover a large area of dunes. The town forms part of a continuous urban area with its two neighbours, and Biarritz airport sits partly on Anglet's land.
